What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CALIFORNIA

I got a ticket yesterday and it sucked because it was my first time traveling on this freeway. usually carpool lanes have the double yellow lines but this one was just dashed like every other lane. the officer told me i was in carpool, and i told him.... i was? and he walked away came back with a ticket and left.

what should i do? after some research i found out that its not a point so i dont really care too much but im scared of the fine. since i WAS in the carpool lane apparently.

what did you do? How did you fight it? or was the fine $456 and you didnt bother to go fight it... im a student so $400 right now is pretty much what i got.

if you did go fight the ticket, what were the Exact steps? do i have anything to lose? if i fight it, i will either come out paying nothing or come out paying the fine..... maybe reduced? or maybe increased? 21655.5 (b) VC in Orange County by a CHP officer.

So, for the entirety of the time you were in the lane it was dashed? I know that in CA the HOV lane is (as you stated) double yellow lines, but the exception is made at the exit/entrance points of the lane. So, was it just for a short distance it was dashes and then became double-yellow?

Also, my information here is based only in SoCal, which may or may not be relevant to your situation, so which part of CA were you in at this time?
