Question

3 Tickets in one stop

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Virginia. I was stopped for speeding 54 in a 35. The officer gave me three tickets: 1. speeding. 2. expired registration/tags. 3. suspended license. I am aware by not getting locked up I was lucky. I wasn't paying attention as far as the speed. I honestly did not know that registration expires; this is my second vehicle the first one I sold before time to renew. My license was suspended, I later found out through DMV because I did not have auto insurance; I have been unable to afford insurance or the uninsured fee.

My questions are: 1.))) I am aware of the fees I must pay, the forms I must complete and the actions I must take to renew my tags and get my license reinstated. If I pay everything before the court date of 1 Nov. can my licensed be renewed prior to my going to court? 2.))) What is the likelihood that I’ll get locked up for this especially if I pay everything and perhaps take a safe drivers course? 3.))) I was told that speeding in VA is now a felony. Is this true? - My friend’s father applied for a job w/ the gov. He was turned down because he was caught speeding – No DUI, DWI, reckless – which the employer told him is now a felony… What?

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'll just answer one of your questions: The more "legal" you are when you go to court, the better off you will look to the judge.

Also, ask the clerk when you get to court if you are eligible for some kind of diversion program. That's where you pay a whopping fee, but you get off with nonmoving violations instead of a speeding ticket.
