Got a ticket in northern california for expired registration and proof of insurance (which I had, just not the card). Got my courtesy notice and the bail amount WITH correction is $900. I about passed out. Has anyone heard of such a thing?? Will it be reduced when I go to court? Car has been registered and I always had insurance. I've been trying to call to see if this is an error, but can't get through. Thanks!

Renew your registration, get it signed off as instructed on the back of the citation, take both, the corrected citation and proof that you were insured at the time of the stop... Pay $50 ($25 for each violation) and you're done!

That's because the registration is listed as correctable, the insurance is only correctable by the clerk of the court, or the court.

As IGB suggested, get the registration taken care of have the cite signed off, and bring proof of insurance at the time of the stop to the court to clear the matter up for considerably less.

If you can only prove that you have insurance NOW, but not then, then the fine will be like 900 dollars...

This is why carrying you auto paperwork is not some trivial matter - but very important.

Yes, definitely had insurance at the time and can prove it. i just got the registration. It's just confusing that it says $900 WITH corrections. $50 would be waaaaay better!
