Assigned Handicap Slot and I got a ticketWhat is the name of your state? UT I purchased a condo about a year ago. The unit I purchased was an ADA (Handicap) unit. Therefore, the corresponding parking slot was marked handicap. It was also marked with my parking slot number (Nobody can park in an assigned slot expect the owner). I have been parking in my slot for just about a year. A couple weeks ago, a police officer calls my house in the middle of the night and has me go downstairs to the parking garage. I go down and he tells me that I can't park in that slot. I told him that it is my property and it came with my unit. In fact, it is my wife's car and she parked there. So I stated, "Should I bring her down so you can issue the ticket in her name?" He stated don't worry you will most likely get this dismissed. Nevertheless, he gave me a ticket. Update: I have contacted the HOA, they have since removed the handicap markings. So my questions: 1) What are the chances that the Judge (or whoever decides) will dismiss the ticket? 2) Shouldn't the officer have given the ticket to the person who did the action? In this case my Wife? Now I know that I should have removed the handicap markings/signs as soon as I bought the place. It never crossed my mind because I didn't think that it would matter because I own it and it, the slot, is my own property. |

| I love the fact that you encouraged the officer to put the ticket in your wife's name. You sound like my ex-husband.... ![]()
