Automobile Title Responsibility

Wisconsin: I know I made a huge error in judgement. I need to know how much trouble I could be in and what to do. My ex boyfriend gave me no reason to suspect that he did not hold a valid liscense. When he wanted to buy a car last year and had trouble setting a meeting with the owner, I went on his behalf. I signed the title, paid for it with his money and gave him the car. I just found out and confirmed through CCAP that he has multiple dwi's and obviously no valid liscense. He will not relinquish the car or the title. If he makes a mistake before I get the help of the DMV and a locksmith, how much trouble will I be in? Am I completely liable for his actions?
