| Boot on...boot off! ]What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania. I came back to the shop I work at one night after dinner only to find a car parked (facing the wrong direction) on the street with a boot on the wheel. It was probably towed and dropped off. One of the part time techs who works a few nights each week was there and had a friend with a tow truck come by to pick it up and move it inside the gated repair shop property. It was locked and there where no keys,no notes or information on why it was there. The tech recognized the car to belong to the owners friend. He took it upon himself to get it quickly off the street and behind closed doors where he removed the boot in five minutes flat! Without damaging the locked boot. The car was booted because she owes almost two grand in parking tickets/fines.Shes now afraid to drive the car anywhere near her home because she heard if she got caught with the car and NO boot attached to the wheel she could be fined up to $50,000 maximum, and the car impounded until she sets up a payment plan with the city to pay her outstanding tickets. Is that amount correct? Can she be put in jail also? Now shes in a bigger mess and wants to just sell the car to pay for the fines. |
