CA violation 22526(a)What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? CA I just got my first ticket in 20 years this morning and am totally bummed. Just wanted to get clarification of this violation 22526(a). Most of the stuff I have read about this violation talks about people in an intersection where there is a light. There was no light in this intersection and there was room for cross traffic. It felt like a trap the way officers were pulling people over - I could not see this because there was a huge SUV in front of me. All the officer would say to me was, "don't worry, this is not a moving violation". Am I inexcusably guilty? ![]() |

My response: It says - - 22526. (a) Notwithstanding any official traffic control signal indication to proceed, a driver of a vehicle shall not enter an intersection or marked crosswalk unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection or marked crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle driven without obstructing the through passage of vehicles from either side. That means there WASN'T a signal light, and there was insufficient room for cross traffic because you had your vehicle in the intersection. You're at fault. Pay the fine. IAAL |
