can I register my car with a ticket? What is the name of your state? ID My car is currently registered in MD. I moved to ID last year. Now I need to get my car registered since the the plate is going to be expired. I want to register it here, but I have 2 parking tickets from ID not paid. I am wondering if I will get any trouble when registering the car in ID. But I am also curious for 2 reasons: 1) it is the city who issued the ticket, will DMV care or know these tickets (since they are non-moving violations)? 2) since the car is registered as a MD car, the tickets did not show who own it. So if I go for registration, will they know I am the owner? Is it required to write down the previous plate number when registration in another state? |

| Some cities report parking tickets to the DMV, some don't. As far as linking you to your MD registration, that's easy. For instance, in my office we do a sort *daily* for two or more violations with no owner attached. So in your case, for instance, we'd get your name and address from the MD DMV database. Then when your billing letter came back, even if there's no forwarding address, we'd check to see if you just happened to move here, et voila! New registration. Why take the chance? |
