What is the name of your state? Calif. I was issued a citation for something I did not do. Rather than argue with the police officer, I signed the ticket because he said I could contest it by mail. I followed all the directions on the ticket and contacted the court and there was never any record of the citation. (even on the last day of the deadline) Now, 1 1/2 months after the original appearance deadline, I receive a Courtesy notice. Doesn`t the court have to meet deadlines too?

You now have the new court date and you must comply with it or face an additional charge.

Depending on the violation, they have up to a year to get in to court. Now you have the notice, so now you can handle it as you wish ... in writing, or in person.
