Carpool citation in CA

What is the name of your state? California

Hi All,
I was driving on a expressway with lights and i went into the carpool lane about 30 yards before i crossed one intersection. I was going to exit the expressway on the next intersection but was stopped and given a citation. Is there anyway a judge might go easy on me for this?
