Chicago parking ticket but live in Aurora

What is the name of your state? Illinois

I am wondering what authority if any gives chicago the means to carry out their threats of an unpaid ticket caused by parking in a residential zone after 4:30? I do not live in the City of Chicago. I have received the lawyer letter stating things like property leins and license suspension. Can they do this when I live in Aurora? this is the only ticket I have.

Thanks

Basically if this is your only chicago parking ticket, you can ignore it for now. What can they do? If you don't pay or appeal the ticket within 21 days, the fine doubles and the ticket becomes a "final determination" After three or more unpaid parking tickets in final determination status, your vehicle can be booted and/or towed by the city, but only if it is parked on a city street. Additionally, the fine will be referred to a collection agency, which will report the debt to all of the credit reporting bureaus, which will affect your credit score, which has a bearing on everything from car insurance rates to mortage loan approval to credit card interest rates. After 10 or more final determinations from the city, your driver's license will be suspended by the state of Illinois. And if your parking ticket debt with the city reaches the $1000 mark, they could have their lawyers file a lean in circuit court against your property and/or an order for wage garnishment. If i were you, i would pay the citation if for no other reason then to keep your credit record clean.

The ticket isnt about where you live its about where you parked illegally and the Ill DMV will take over if thats what the law is. Ive never seen a ticket give erroneous info if its a legit ticket from the government. Take your chances.
