Company negligence

What is the name of your state? Utah
Background first
I'm working for an oilfield company as a driver, the companies main office is out of Farmington NM. and the one I'm working out of is in Vernal,Utah. I was told to deliver a trailer with a backhoe on it to a job site 40 miles away and that the crew going to use it were already there and I needed to hurry. In route the backhoe shifted on the trailer and I lost both it and the trailer off to the side of the road. turns out that the backhoe was not properly secured. I received tickets for: improperly secured load, and for the truck and trailer not having apportioned plates. my question is as a driver can I honestly be held responsible for mistakes made by my company?? we're talking about thousands in fines here the issuing officer told me he hoped my company would "do the right thing " which I took to mean "pay the damn ticket." If they do not would I have any legal recourse against them? could they be Made to pay for the tickets?

You are certainly responsible for making sure the load is secured when you drive even if you weren't the one who loaded it. You may be able to duck the tag violation if the company stands up for you.
