Question

Conflicting Signage

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? District of Columbia
I was found liable for a parking ticket (P259) and I am confused.
My car was towed at a parking meter that has has conflicting signage on it.
  1. STANDING OR PARKING ANYTIME with arrow to the right away from where I have parked
  2. NO STANDING OR PARKING 7AM-9:30AM 4PM-6:30PM MONDAY-FRIDAY with arrow pointing to the left where I have parked.
  3. 2 HOUR PARKING 9am-6:30PM MONDAY-FRIDAY with arrow pointing to the left where I have parked.

I went to court with a picture of the sign and explain that to the judge but they still say that the "Government has established the infraction by a preponderance of evidence" and found me "liable".
I think this is entrapment to get us... why could they put the last sign "2 HOUR PARKING 9:30am-4PM MONDAY-FRIDAY" and there will be no confusion about it.

Can I appeal this charge and win? Or better yet can I charge the DC government of "entrapment" in civil court?

The way I understand your post is you parked to the left of the arrow pointing to the right and to the right of the arrow pointing to the left. But I know that is wrong... So the question I have is: were all three of these signs on the same meter?

I think you'd have to represent yourself in that civil suit against the DC government because I highly doubt that you're gonna find an attorney who'd be willing to represent you.

The only part of what is confusing is what time you were parked there.

It's pretty clear to me, during the no standing ties, you can't park there. During the day you can park there for at most 2 hours (if you put money in the meter). You can not "feed" the meter to stay longer than 2 hours.
At other times (night) you can park as long as you like (and a notation on the meter probably exempts you from having to pay).

Howzabout you post a picture of that sign for us?

And were all these signs really on the METER, or were they nearby? Please clarify.
