Exclamation

display of front plate illinois

What is the name of your state? IL

I got 2 tickets for front lisence plate: it was on the windshield, not attached on the front bumper both times. Ticket #1 didn't indicate that my front plate was on the windshield (and it was)!
Ticket #2 has a remark - plate on the window!
I looked through some laws and requirements for display of plates in illinois. What i found was: "Most vehicles are required to have two license plates. License plate frames should not cover any of the information on the license plates.
Cars and other vehicles have two plates, one on the front and one on the rear..."
I already have a hearing for the first ticket scheduled.
I have 2 questions:
1. Can I contest on both tickets at the same time (provided that I'll schedule hearing for the 2nd one, but will appear in court earlier with both)?
2. Were the tickets issued correctly (meaning do I have a chance to contest and win on that issue).

Thanks a lot for any info!!!

Mitsubishi Eclipse - when I bought it there were no holes on the bumper. I didn't want to riun that as I might sell the car soon.

Plus I know friends whose plates were stolen in the neighbourhood...

TWEEEEEETTTT!!!

[throws yellow penalty flag]

We have a lame excuse by the poster. Judge has heard this 549 times already and wants to bonk poster with mallet. 5 yard penalty and poster gets one more chance to come up with legitimate excuse.

Maybe there is a conspiracy by the police, the politicans, US carmakers and the courts to promote buying American made vehicles.

Extremely helpful !
I'm a foreigner, so I'm not aware of those excuses made by others in front of a judge.
BUT, I haven't found A SINGLE WORD IN THE LOCAL LAW saying that the front plate should be on the bumper - it just says 2 lisence plates: one on the front and one on the rare of the car!

Any real suggestions, anyone?

In the US, the windshield is not considered the front of the car. It is the part with the front bumper and grill.

**A: no way Jose. Ok, sorry for calling you that name. You need to have a reality check into the legal world of the American justice system. How would this siutation be handled differently in your home country?

We are not getting any tickets - never-ever
The only way to meet the policeman/woman is to make a moving violation or to be stopped at the police local points on the town roads (which sounds rediculous but that's true).

Ok, back to my subject: if I pledge guilty and bring the picture of properly placed front plate, do I get a chance of reducing the fine, elimination of at least 1 of 2 tickets?

Thanks!
