DMV revoking license over eye exam????What is the name of your state? Tennessee This may be a stupid question. Can the DMV revoke a drivers license for failing an eye test? My husband has his regular license. He wants to get his motorcycle license also. He had a really hard time passing the test before, and had to get a letter from his eye specialist. If he goes down to get the new license, and he fails the eye exam. Can they take away his regular drivers license? Last edited by momwith3kids; 05-06-2005 at 02:31 PM. |

| Yes they can. Do you want to be on the road with someone that can't pass the simple eye test given by the states? I know I don't.

| Yes, of course they can and should revoke any and all classes of licenses he holds if he cannot pass the vision test. Remeber, the minimum requirements for a driver's license are with or without corrective lenses, meaning that if his vision cannot be brought up to within the minimum requirements with corrective lenses, he has some serious vision problems. Usually states have two levels of vision requirements. The normal cutoff is for an urestricted license (with corrective lenses, if necessary, which is noted on the license.) allowing operation at all hours. The second set of vision requirements are slightly less rigourous, but result in a restricted driver's license, allowing operation of a vehicle only during daylight hours (ie from dawn till dusk). If your husband's vision continues to deteriorate, he may only be able to receive a restricted license, which probably does not allow him to apply to operate a motorcycle (ie the motorcycle license does not have a restricted class). |
