Question

Fighting College Parking Ticket - Credit Bureau

What is the name of your state? North Carolina

I received a parking ticket on 11/30/08 on the towns law school parking lot. The lot has two parking spaces for state handicapped (which I am), rest are for student stickers. The two state ones were taken so I parked in one next to it which is not a state (blue) handicapped spot. I was given a ticket and sent a invoice to pay or they will go to collections.
I am about to write a letter explaining I am disabled, on federal disability, can't park in other lots and walk, there was no sign in front of the spot itself, instead they have a parking lot posting, but it is a little hidden, especially if entering the lot from the other direction. So I plan to write/call them, and then they will make a decision.
If they say no, I want to go to court with them on this. I don't want anything on my credit report as a unpaid collection. How does one fight a parking ticket gone to collections from a college in court instead of paying it ?

Thank you,
Ken

On every summons there is an option to dispute the summons, usually on the back of the summons. Read the instructions.

What a radical idea.

I hate it when people post from the future.
