Fined for parking in my yard

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Boston, Ma
I own a home on a private way and have a vacant lot beside my driveway.I have my boat and my son has two cars parked in the vacant lot. Today we were giving a ticket for $150.00 from Boston Inspectional Services Dept
and told to remove all vehicles off the lot or we would be fined $300.00 next time.Is this legal?

I didn't see any reason for the ticket in the city of boston parking rules

What did your ticket say for the reason you were ticketed? Was there a code number under which you were cited? Are the vehicles properly registered?

Have you called the Inspectional Services Department to have them explain what the issue is? Some municipalities have rules against parking on grass. In that case you could make the area acceptable fashioning a driveway from stone paving blocks.

I suspect there is a local ordinance prohibiting it. Is there an ordinance number or any other information on the ticket?

Duh, I had misread that to say that he owned the vacant lot.

If its not his lot, then he should expect his vehicles to get towed instead of only getting a measly fine.
