Firelane parking ticket

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa

I received a parking ticket for parking in a fire lane a couple days ago. I had never been to the building i was parking at, and I parked along the street with a number of other cars (the street was filled up on both sides). I did not see any signs since it was dark and assumed it was fine to park there since all the other cars were. When i returned to my car, i found a parking ticket, saying i had parked a fire lane (the whole street was a fire lane). I plan to contest the ticket on this basis, but when I was examining the ticket the officer wrote the wrong model car down. I know some states will dismiss a ticket if any part of the ticket is wrong, but i can't find anything on Iowa's law about this.
Thanks

Also, the "everyone else was doing it so I thought it was okay" defense doesn't work. What other people do is not a legal justification for your own actions.
