First minor violation

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? MA

A friend went on vacation and left his car in my care. While running an errand for him, I was cited for operating an unregistered m/v. Apparently, his registration had expired and he didn't realized it.

I'm wondering if I should appeal this citation. It was my first offense, and a minor one at that. I honestly think the officer could have given me a warning instead of a ticket, seeing how it wasn't exactly my fault the vehicle is unregistered.

Should I go ahead and appeal?

There is nothing to appeal the car was in your possesion so you should have known is it was registered, insured, inspected, ect.

I have heard some people saying after they got a ticket for driving an unregistered car the owner got it registered and bought the proof to court and the ticket was dropped.
