Got parking ticket while I am seating in a car

What is the name of your state? NYC, NY

I got a parking ticket while I am waiting for my wife.
The traffic officer was approaching from behind my car and immediately scan the VPN number on my car without saying anything.
I didn't even park there more than 10 min and got $115 fine for double parking.
I am gonna contest this parking fine but want to know what kinds of case I have before going to court.
This is not traffic crowded area and infront of building so street parkings were full at that time. There are two more lanes after the one I was parking so it is not blocking or causing any traffic.
Please let me know how I should appeal my case.
Thanks

you being inside the car while it was illegally parked is NOT a defense.

Try again.

The ticket was not for "blocking or causing any traffic"; it was for double parking and that is what you were guilty of.

Because people like you are the reason why it takes me an hour to get home for what should be a 30 minute trip, it gives me great pleasure to tell you that you have absolutely no potential defenses to that ticket.

You can either pay the $115, or not, and just let it sit and accrue late fees. You have until it hits $255 before the City will tow your car, so that ought to give you plenty of time to figure out a long-term strategy on how to be yet another inconsiderate and irresponsible driver.

Good luck!
