Handicapped parking

What is the name of your state? Washington DC

Okay, sorry to bring this up again (there are a number of posts on this topic). But here is the deal. I got to work at the VA hospital on a morning after we got an inch or two of snow. The lot wasn't plowed yet. I parked in the second set of rows. The first set is marked as handicapped. I come out the next day (36 hour shift) and have a ticket for parking in a handicapped spot. There is no sign in front of the spot indicating it is handicapped but by now the snow has melted enough to see that sure enough the painted wheelchair sign is under my car. I took a picture (the first row has signs in front of the spots) but obviously it doesn't show the snow covering the painting.

Second, I was looking for the law regarding this (which I haven't been able to find) and found this site

which says the fine should be $50 yet on my ticket it is $100.

My question is what are my chances of winning this? Unfortunately I can't fight it by mail like other DC parking tickets so I would have to go to court. If I'm going to lose I don't want to waste precious time. Thanks.

If you park in a handicapped spot without authorization, you are guilty of parking in a handicapped spot without authorization.

Pay the ticket.

First off, you need to be looking into the DC traffic code. Not VA regulations. The federal gov't does not have a law in the United States Code for parking in a handicap parking spot. You were charged with the DC code under the assimilated crimes act. Secondly, pay the ticket, if you were parked in the spot, you were parked in the spot. Sorry
