I owe parking tickets in Florida but I live in PA, legal reciprocity?

I owe parking tickets in Florida but I now live in PA. The county in Florida contacted me through the mail saying that they have issued an order directing law enforcement officers to impound my car, can they impound my car in PA even though it happened in Florida?

Do you really want to find out the hard way??

(The odds are greatly in their favor that they can).

You could call up the local police station and ask. Keep in mind important things like the fact that I'm sure they have caller ID there so once you call and ask they'll know who you are. Of course, if they just got a notice to impound your car they won't need the caller ID to realize who's calling to ask. You could just, oh idk... pay your parking tickets.

You should be more concerned with clearing up your status as a scofflaw. Once that happens you don't have to worry about having your car impounded.

it appears that both Florida and PA are members of the Interstate Drivers License Compact and the Non-Resident Violators Compact (you can google both of those terms for more info) so, what happens in one state is pretty much valid in the other state. If Florida suspends your license, that action can translate to PA.

I would suggest this can be carried to vehicle impounding as well.

And certainly stay out of Florida the rest of your life. Say goodbye to Mickey, cruises, vacations, and retirement..

Unfortunately computers don't forget about this kind of stuff. Do some searches of these forums where people get snagged 15 years later in the worst of situations. Think of the interest $$'s.

Here's an example from another poster, (just yesterday):

I'm sure the locals wouldn't know the details of any reciprocity between FL and PA. The state DMV would.

The local police would just be responding to anything that affects your PA license and/or registration. They really won't be too concerned about the origins of an impound order or scofflaw suspension.
