What is the name of your state? Illinois

Recently a police officer came into the parking lot of my condominium and wrote me a ticket for not displaying a valid city sticker. I just bought the car a week prior and didnt have a chance to get the sticker yet.

But here's where it gets good. On the ticket the officer put down the wrong make of the car, the wrong drivers license number, and the wrong date of birth. He filled in my fathers info for DOB and DL (the car isnt registered to him). After all that he didn t even leave the ticket on the car, he then proceeded to hand deliver the ticket a mile away to my parents house.

Any advice on what I should do to contest this?

My first advice is to give more details, 'cause this makes NO sense to me at all.

How did he get your father's info? Did you buy the car from your father?

Did your vehicle have temporary plates or no registration at all?

They did that to me in an apartment lot once, but I had the vehicle long enough (a couple of months) that it had regular plates on it. I think all I had to do was buy the city sticker (with late fee). Check local ordinances about city sticker requirements for newly purchased vehicles (time limit?).

Fortunately my city makes enough from the local casino that they did away with city vehicle stickers.
