Interstate interference from non-moving violationWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA and AZ When attempting to renew his license in California, my husband was informed that the state of Arizona had an $800. fine that needed to be paid before he can get his license. We called AZ to find out what this was all about, as we have been living in CA for over 10 years. The state of AZ had an expired registration ticket from 11 years ago that they have penalized up to over $800. The IRS only requires that I keep financial records for 7 years, so any proof of payment of this ticket has been destroyed. I requested an appeal through the AZ court and was denied. Can I take this to a higher court? If so which one and how? This is such a minor thing, yet the fines are so high. Any advice? Thank you. |

| What does the IRS have to do with anything? (and it's not an IRS mandate, just good advice as the IRS has six years to challenge your return in the most adverse circumstances). You don't indicate whether your husband actually paid the original fine. If he didn't, he's screwed anyhow. He actually owes all that. It behooves you if you rack up violations on your record to make sure things are cleared. This has been festering for a long time and these things are coming to light in situations like yours over the past year or so because the states are finally getting computers crossreferenced.
