What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

My husband has a valid disabled placard. He was home ill yesterday and I ran out to get him something to eat. There were no parking spaces except for the disabled ones so I thought - it will just be a second and it's for him anyway. Apparently I should have thought harder. I got a traffic ticket for it and also a criminal citation. The police officer explained to me that even for this errand I could not use it. I know I sound stupid but it was an honest mistake. Can I just go to court and tell the judge this? My husband will go with me and back up my story plus he had just been to the doctor for the pain that was bothering him - is this really serious so that I should hire an attorney?

The specific statue is Florida 320.01(7)
