No standing NYCWhat is the name of your state? NYC Please bear with me as this may be a little confusing so I made a mini diagram . I was parked behind the crosswalk but on top of the words STOP painted on the ground(the 8's represent my car). The no parking sign next to me was for street cleaning only (and for a different day anyway). The front of my car was past the sign and it only had an arrow pointing back not the double arrow. The ticket I was given was for No Standing and when I looked around the only No Standing sign I could find was on the other side of the intersection. Is the No Standing sign effective across an intersection and a crosswalk up until the no parking sign because it had a one way arrow?? Thanks for any advise. | | | |NS ---------- --------- | 8 | | 8 |NP | 8 | | 8 | |

| Yes ... that is confusing. So, I will just mention some general rules with parking tickets. 1) You must have at least one sign per block. This would mean that signs from one block to not apply to signs from another block. 2) The location of the violation must be written on the ticket. 3) The violation must be explained clearly. Which means that if the sign says no parking and the officer wrote no standing, the ticket is void. To prove that the officer made a mistake on the ticket, you can see the address of your ticket and make sure that the sign he is reffering to does not exist in that location. Does that help?

| Thanks for your help. 1. The only signs on the block I was parked on were 'No Parking' 2. The location is on the ticket 3. It's one of those electronic tickets so there is nothing hand written but it does say 'No Standing (c) Days/Hrs: All Days/All Times and that sign was definitely not next to my car. I think I will just fight it electronically and if I have to pay, I have to pay. No way is it worth it to miss a say of work. Thanks again |
