Old no insurance ticket

In 2004 I got a ticket for speeding and no insurance, I did not end up paying the ticket. When I went to renew my driver's license in 2008 I was told there's a hold on my license because of the unpaid tickets.
The DMV gave me the name of the county and I contacted them and paid for the speeding ticket and sent them a copy of my insurance that was valid during the time and citation. They are now telling me

That they are not going to drop the insurance charge even though I proved to them that I have insurance at the time.

On top of the fine for the no insurance ticket and required to pay the Texas surcharge of $260 a year for three years. It is also going to increase my insurance rates.

I know I did something wrong by not addressing this immediately but it doesn't seem right that receiving the punishment for no insurance when it's evident that I had insurance at the time.

Does anyone have advice on this matter? I got my tickets in texas.

My advice is pay them and learn a valueable lesson about screwing around with your state ticket revenue. Theres nothing you can do. its been too long and theres no excuse good enough for them to reopen the tickets.

Sorry.

Is the bench warrant for the Failure To Appear or is it for the Failure To Pay?

Also, keep a couple of things in mind... FIRST, in addition to your suspended license, you should be asking the DMV about the status of the vehicle registration for any vehicles that you own.... This is pursuant to Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 601, Section 340 which states:

Quote:
Sec. 601.340. EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OR SUSPENSION OF VEHICLE REGISTRATION FOLLOWING SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION OF DRIVER'S LICENSE.
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) or (c), the department shall suspend the registration of each motor vehicle registered in the name of a person if the department:
(1) under any state law, other than Section 521.341(7), suspends or revokes the person's driver's license on receipt of a record of a conviction or a forfeiture of bail; or

(2) receives a record of a guilty plea of the person entered for an offense for which the department would be required to suspend the driver's license of a person convicted of the offense.
(b) The department, unless otherwise required by law, may not suspend a registration under Subsection (a) if the person files and maintains evidence of financial responsibility with the department for each motor vehicle registered in the name of the person.

(c) This section does not apply to a suspension of a driver's license for an offense under Chapter 106, Alcoholic Beverage Code, other than an offense that includes confinement as an authorized sanction.

And SECOND you should refrain from driving until the matter is resolved with the court and until you take a visit to the DMV and pay them the reinstatement fee to get your license back.
