What is the name of your state? California

If a person parks his car for sale. Then he receives a ticket for illegal parking of car for sale. Then he has sold his car to someone. He chose NOT to pay the ticket.

Now for the question:

Who will end up being responsible for this parking ticket? The seller (who signs off title etc), or the new owner of car?

The owner at the time the ticket was issued(The first owner). If he doesn't pay it, the state will suspend his license and that suspension will cary over to almost all the other states!

A lien will likely be placed on the vehicle and any future registration or transfer of the vehicle will be held up until it is paid for.

boy, that sure sounds like it would cause for a sticky wicket.

Ultimately, I suppose it could cause the buyer to be able to sue the seller for reccission of the sale due to the fact the seller did not actually have clear title of the vehicle, which would have restricted the rights of the seller such that he would not have been able to sell the vehicle originally.

Doesn;t sound like a situation I would want to cause, or even allow to happen.
