Parked Car

undefinedWhat is the name of your state? Ohio

My son-in-law's neighbors were having a party and parked in front of his house knowing he was mowing. He accidently knicked one of the car doors with the handle of the lawnmower. They called the police and he said they were responsible to pay for the damages done. They had two estimates made and the cost is going to be $2,500.00. Needless to say, my daughter and son-in-law are very upset. The neighbors are claiming he hit not one, but two of their cars. I personally think they are taking advantage of the situation to get some much needed repairs done to their cars at my children's expense. What can they do? First of all, I thought when you parked on a public street, you were aware that damage might be done to your car. I would never dream of asking someone to pay for this kind of damage knowing I parked in front of their yard, knowing they were mowing grass at the time. The neighbor parked up in the grass also. Help.
