parking at bus stop in New York city

What is the name of your state? NY

Got a parking ticket for "no standing in bus stop" near Central Park in New York city. I thought I had taken sufficient care. I had parked approx. 3 bus lengths away from the bus stop. I checked all the posted signs, and there was no "no parking" sign that seemed relevant (only one was for street cleaning). Waited for a police officer also, but there was none nearby (asked a few passers-by, and they all said it "seemed ok"). The question is, what is the length of the "bus stop"? How far away does one have to be? Also, does the bus stop "no parking" zone have to be clearly marked by signs?

The ticket also doesn't have my "exp date". Is that grounds for dismissal? The body type is listed as "SUBN". Mine is a mini-van. Are they the same?

Thanks.

It extends to where the next sign (affecting parking) is standing.

.01" outside the bus stop.

Nope, the presence of the bus "shelter" has been held sufficient notice that it was a bus stop. But have no fear, see below.

Damn straight it is - assuming your registration was present and visible. Read this and follow the instructions for contesting the ticket: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/pdf/99pdf/pvo_itslaw_00.pdf

That is the code they use for minivans, but it's irrelevant thanks to the missing expiration date.

Thanks.
Welcome.
