What is the name of your state? New York

We got a ticket (VC 78) for parking our four door pick-up truck with Pennsylvania plates over night on a residential street in Manhattan. Pennsylvania does not have an option of non truck plates for anything other than traditional passenger cars, although it does not consider it a commercial vehicle. NYC law reads like our vehicle isn't a commercial vehicle either. When the vehcile was registered in NY, it did not have commercial plates.

Is there a defense? What is it? Thanks!

You can try (if you do, it's better if you go in person rather than via mail). However, I'm gussing there was no cover/cap on the bed? That's usually what the ticket agents look for so the judge might do the same.

Gather up all the PA regs showing that this isn't a "commercial" vehicle and give it a shot - you have nothing to lose.
