What is the name of your state? CO

Is there a statue of limitations on parking tickets in the city of Denver?

I received a letter from a collection agency asking for payment for a ticket
issued over 9 years ago. The ticket must have been issued to my rental
car though I never saw the ticket.

Can I request from the collection agency a copy of the ticket? I don't know
who these bozos are so I want to make sure it was really me. Or can
the city provide a copy?

Do the car rental agencies keep records of this? And for so long ago?

Do I have the right to research? The letter states I have 10 days to pay.
Not much time...

Thanks.

I have the same problem

I received the same letter on Feb 27th, regarding a parking violation in July 1996. I remember the ticket but I am almost certain that I paid it because the city of Denver notified Oregon DMV about my failure to pay and Oregon DMV threatened not to renew my license if I didn't pay. I was visiting denver on business and they tracked me down through the rental car company. I intend to check with ODMV to see if they have a record of that prior to telling the City of Denver to Bite me! I would love to hear any input you get on this item though!

I called the law firm today. They have no records except a list of people
who owe Denver money.

Told the guy that I wanted a copy of the ticket so I could validate their
claim. The firm has no such records and my best bet is to call the
City of Denver. I tried and never reached anyone. He did note on my
record of my desire to investigate the matter further. So I think I won't
get hit up with a penalty after the 10 days.

I am going to try and contract Hertz to see if they still have any records
of the ticket and/or of a rental during the period of the ticket.

Does anyone know my rights in investigating this matter? If I can't find
any evidence of me being in Denver (via Hertz), can I tell the firm to
pound sound?

You will probably have to take it up with the city and get them to pull your account from the collection agency.
