parking tix for expired insp sticker

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? new york,ny

I got a ticket for an expired registration, and was told (by the officer) that if I get the vehicle inspected within 24 hours (and it passes) that I would not have to pay the ticket.

I still got a (later) ticket anyway even though the car passed inspection when I took it several hours later to a garage. I sent the xeroxed copy of the passed inspection along with the original tix.

Does anyone know if I can completely get out of the ticket or do I still have to pay????

Was it the registration or the inspection that was expired? If it was the registration, you have no chance. If it was the inspection, if you had plead not guilty in person with proof of the new inspection, you might have had a shot if you happened to luck upon an ALJ who was in a good mood. (Odds are you'd still be screwed though, as the law is pretty clear that inspections after expiration don't invalidate the ticket). Even if you didn't get a sympathetic judge, they still offer you the chance to plead guilty for a 20% reduction in the fine.

But since it appears you already plead by mail, you can expect to have to pay the full amount.
