Ok so if I got pulled over with a provisional license and had a minor in the car, would the minor be required by law to provide identification? Also if the minor lied about his age would that get him in trouble?

Would the minor be required to identify himself? Probably not ... though, if the issue of his welfare comes into play, or he is subject to arrest or citation, then he would have to identify himself. If merely a passenger, then he has no lawful duty to identify himself to the police. However, if he LIES about his identity or his age he can potentially be charged with one or more crimes. Oddly enough in CA you can be charged with a crime for providing a false name or identifying info to an officer even if the circumstances did not mandate you to provide any ID at all.
