PLEASE HELP! accidentally bounced a check for a parking ticket

What is the name of your state? NH

I sent in a $15 check to the local PD to pay a parking ticket....about a week later I closed the checking account which I used. I had assumed the check had cleared and honestly didn't even think about it at the time I closed the account. A couple days ago I received a letter from the bank saying that the check was returned....

This is my concern--I want to make things right and pay the fine, however I have inadvertantly just committed a crime which in the state of NH is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $200 fine--If I go down to the PD to try and pay the ticket and explain my situation, will they arrest me? Is there a possibility there's a warrant out for my arrest right now?

I am a little scared and a lot of worried! I didn't mean to bounce the check!

Any advcie is appreciated!!

Thanks! What is the name of your state?

Call the courts and immediately make arrangements to pay the fine by secured funds (cash, money order, cashiers/certified check) as well as any service fee for the bounced check. It will most likely go no further than that.

It may not even need to go that far. I'm at a PD in New Hampshire, and we've had this happen before. If the person called or came in, frequently we'd accept their payment and not charge the bouncy fee. I'd suggest the OP call the police department and ask, preferably with a contrite (rather than confrontational) attitude.
