PLEASE HELP What's "Obstruct Intsec" Lease Co. sent me notice but I never get ticket?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

Hello, I visited NYC 6 weeks ago and today I got a parking violation notice from my leased car company saying "Obstruct Intersec" and $125 fine. I don't know why I got this ticket because I never received it in the first place. I had to sit down and reminisced about my NYC trip. Then it occurred to me this what had happened.

I was a tourist visiting NYC for the first time and only drove my car once during the 5 days I was in NYC.

On this particular morning, I was driving through an intersection when there were a bunch of police officials were out and about. I thought there might have been an accident or something up ahead or somehwere. Then as I was driving through an intersection, a police car signaled to turn into my lane from the left so as I crossed the intersection I moved to the right lane so he could move to my lane. Then there were a bunch of cars followed my car. Then 10 seconds later a female agent knocked on my window and asked me if I was blocking traffic earlier at the intersection and I said "no, what do you mean? no I wasn't". Then she walked away to the car behind me and talked to the driver behind me. So I thought I was fine because she never came back. I noticed she was writing stuff down and also chatting to another male police official. There were a bunch that day, but thinking back I realized they must have been parking agents/officials. Anyway, I forgot all about it, but then today the company which I leased my car from sent me this notice of parking violation saying that "obstruct intsec". I googled this and it said that basically I blocked the intersection. However, I never did such thing.

If she wanted to write me a ticket, she would have to tell me or ask me for my driver license, etc. right? She cannot just walk away and wrote a ticket for me w/o letting me know right? Thinking back I think she might have written down the wrong license plate as she was talking to the car behind me not to me??? How could I get a ticket when I never even received the ticket that day? I'm actually still in shock.

So I need your help. What should I do now? I never knew such a thing as "osbstruct Intsec" ticket until today. I don't live in NY so I cannot appeal in person but there's an option to appeal online. Have anyone done this? Is there any hope for me to fight this ticket? I'm an honest person and I seriously had no idea why I got this ticket. I think she got the wrong car. I was not even obstructing the intersection as I was clearly not in the intersection except for one second when I let that police car cut into my own lane and so I moved to the right lane but that I didn't break any law. It puzzled me that why did she just assume and wrote me a ticket and sent it to my leased car company. Why didn't she give me the ticket in person? Why did I receive this "surprised" ticket? Is there traffic camera that would prove my innocence? I have other passengers in the car would they help me as witnesses? I just don't want to fly to NYC to appeal this ticket so what will I be able to fight this ticket successfully online?

I appreciate any help or input. What can I do to fight this ticket online? Thank you again for your time. Thank you for reading!

Did the rental company send you the actual ticket? If NOT then they already paid it and now it's your turn.

You haven't given enough information for anyone to determine if the charge was correct.

Yes, the agent can write you and if you drive away before she's done then you get it in the mail. No license is needed - it's a parking ticket.

You can fight NYC parking tickets by mail or online, as well as in person. If you do so you'd better be alot more clear then you just were in your post otherwise you will lose.

Where are you from? If you want to submit written statements from witnesses they must be notarized.

You cannot have your hearing online if you want to submit written witness statements. You would have to do it by mail.

Once again, you have to explain your story alot more clearly then you did. What about the traffic light at the intersection? What were the conditions like when you entered the intersection? There are a few elements to this offense which you need to cover, and you haven't.

You are focusing too much on the fact that the traffic agent didn't serve you with the violation right there. Don't get hung up on that. It's pretty meaningless.
