Private Parking Lot QuestionWhat is the name of your state? CA I was wondering what the laws that govern parking lot businesses. I was in a situation where a parking attendant wasnt around to give me a ticket. There was an attendant booth but no one was there. I guess the guy went to the bathroom or something. The parking ticket dispenser wasnt working and the cantilever gate was open. I parked and left 10-20 mins later. When tried to leave, the parking attendant was at the booth and he tried to charging me $10 for a lost ticket. Could this potentially be fraud by allowing people in to use the facility and then charge them with out a ticket contract? thanks, yeartiger |

| No, it's not fraud. It's an issue between you and the parking lot owner. You can always call the police, but I suspect you will do nothing but tick off the responding officer. I've been in your position before. I have either waited for the attendant to return, or chosen NOT to park there. - Carl
