| Reckless driving charge What is the name of your state? North Carolina
My husband has a great driving record. The only ticket he had was for going 65mph in a 55mph zone back in 1990. However, this morning he was late and trying to get to the airport at 5:30am and was pulled over going 85mph in a 55mph work zone. He was given a ticket for reckless driving and has a court date.
I consulted an attorney who told me that due to his record, he would likely be able to get the reckless driving charge dropped and get a reduction in the speeding or get it dismissed entirely. From what I have read about reckless driving, it is 4 points on your license for 3 years and our car insurance will likely double. So, financially, paying for an attorney is probably cheaper in the long run.
My question is this..... is reckless driving a serious charge (as I suspect it is)? Also, do you think we need to obtain counsel? If so, given the information, do you think that his expectations of getting the reckless driving charge dropped and at least a reduction in the speeding obtainable?
Thanks for you opinions and time. |
