Stopped in Handicapped ParkingIn NJ, I stopped the car in a handicapped parking space, and left a licensed driver with the car, so it could be moved if required. The posted penalty for 1st offense of parking in a handicapped space is $100.00. The actual cost is $274.00. Why was the other driver not allowed to move the car before the ticket was issued, and why is it legal for the fee to be greater than the posted amount. Can I fight this and win? |

| Youre lucky you didn't get your legs clipped to the point of needing a handicapped placard. BTW - the fine is just the start. There are also court fees, etc that get tacked on top of the "base" ticket price |

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be. It does seem as it would that it would in effect all be considered a fine but they get away with it in my state. |
