Ticketed for radio

What is the name of your state? AZ

for the first time in the 4 years i've been driving in the same area I was given a ticket for having my radio too loud. my friend was ON THE PHONE and i was trying to eat my taco bell i just bought and I drove past an officer in an suv and I guess he heard my stereo so he made a u-turn and came after me. We were trying to get ahold of some friends to go hang out with, so I was gonna pull over in the mean time. and that's when I made a left turn infront of the cop who was waiting to make a left turn perpendicular to me. he had his windows down, as did i. he pulled me over and i had no clue what I did so when he came up and asked me for my information I still had my radio on. it wasn't loud AT ALL(due to my friend being on the phone, he actually still was when they approached my car) but he tried to say he heard me comming up the street and when i drove by him i turned it down until i got passed him and turned it back up. bull, totally untrue. I was too busy trying to eat to mess with the radio and I had no reason to turn it down because I had no idea I could be ticketed for that in the first place. i have to go to court tomorrow and i'm going to at least take it to trial and TRY to argue that my speakers are stock, have no subs, only aftermarket is my cd player. this is a popular "cruise" street and there are a lot of businesses and bars down it that usually have loud music playing on the weekends which doesn't make sense that I could be ticketed for this. I could tell this guy has pulled a lot of people over and gone through the same thing many times due to his ****y attitude and his little story about me "turning it down as I passed him"

what are the technicalities the judge looks for? is there anything I can argue to help my case?
my mother's friend has a son who works for the same department who pulled me over and I guess that particular street is targeted for this and not very many people win their case. but i also feel that most people probably were listening to LOUD music when they got ticketed. In my case, he heard a radio(because i made a turn infront of him) and decided to pull me over. by the way, this was at the end of the month.

It would appear you do not know the meaning of loud music. Daily I roll my window up to some idiot who thinks I must be subjected to their type of music and at high volume.

The first thing a Judge does NOT want in his/her courtroom is a smart ass, who portrays an image of
"the whole world is out to get ME".

Standard answer

Here are some hints on appearing in court:

Dress professionally in clean clothes.

Do not wear message shirts.

Don't chew gum, smoke, or eat.

Bathe and wash your hair.

Go to court beforehand some day before you actually have to go to watch how things go.

Speak politely and deferentially. If you argue or dispute something, do it professionally and without emotion.

Ask the court clerk who you talk to about a diversion (meaning you want to plead to a different, lesser charge), if applicable in your situation. Ask about traffic school and the ticket not go on your record, if applicable.

Here are five stories that criminal court judges hear the most (and I suggest you do not use them or variations of them):

1. I’ve been saved! (This is not religion specific; folks from all kinds of religious backgrounds use this one.)

2. My girlfriend/mother/sister/daughter is pregnant/sick/dying/dead/crippled and needs my help.

3. I’ve got a job in [name a state five hundred miles away].

4. This is the first time I ever did this.

5. You’ve got the wrong guy. (A variation of this one is the phantom defendant story: “It wasn’t me driving, it was a hitchhiker I picked up. He wrecked the car, drug me behind the wheel then took off.”)
