time expiration parking ticket

My name is Kelsey Hamilton and I live in Westwood, CA. I was recently issued a ticket for time expiration and there was no sign posted near my parking area that specified a time limit for parking. I later found out that the sign for time limit had been torn down. There were signs around the corner and down the street from it-so my question is this? Can they say I am responsible for knowing there is a time limit if the sign is not there? And-(more importantly) is there a law that states the distance of street curb that a sign covers-i.e. can a sign a couple hundred feet away from my parking space qualify as a notification of time limit for the area I'm parked in-i.e. an area a couple hundred feet away?

Please respond-I need help!

Thanks,
Kelsey

I pulled into a side street, made a U-turn and parked. Came back and found a ticket for parking in a no parking zone. Looked around and there were no signs. Walked way up the block and eventually found a no parking sign (for that side of street only). But from where I was parked, I could not even see the backside of the sign.

If you feel your time is less valuable than the fine, you could go back and take pictures (and hope they have not repaired the sign). But if you have to take time off from work, it may not be worth it.

Did you pay the ticket? I mean, did that sign way down the street cover the space where you were parked? or did you contest the ticket? Just wondering.

Thanks for the reply.
