Tour Bus Stop

I was parked on a bus stop sign at 3pm, and I doubled checked the sign but I still got a $100 ticket anyways. I thought the sign was confusing and I could be misinterpreting it. I'm not sure if I have a case but should I try to dispute it or just pay it?

Looks to me like it is a no parking zone that allows the tour busses to idle for 15 minutes.

But, I can see where an argument MIGHT be made that it is ambiguous and that it COULD imply that idling for up to 15 minutes is allowed ... but, that would be a stretch.

10 am is ten in the morning. 12 am is midnight. so, there is a 14 hour time period when no parking is allowed.

Parking IS allowed from 12:01 am to 9:59 am.

My interpretation is that tour buses can park there for up to 15 minutes with NO idling. Everybody else can not.

Tour bus idling is a big issue in a lot of place, given a choice bus drivers will leave them idling for ever. Most urban areas find the fumes and noise objectionable and want them shutdown when parked.

I agree - there is NO idling permitted and tour buses (only) can park there for 15 minutes during the designated period.

The OP should count himself lucky that he just got ticketed and not towed as well.

Maybe I'm just used to reading parking signs, but I find nothing ambiguous about this one.

Thanks all, I guess there's no arguing that I misinterpreted it. I'll just have to dish out $100 wish the sign had just read "no parking" instead

It did -- there's a "no parking" symbol in the upper left-hand corner.
