Towed car ILLEGALLY

What is the name of your state? FL

on Sunday 7/29/2007 at 3:00am Tremont towing company towed my car for not having a parking decal in a residential zone 2 area...The thing is...I DID have a decal in my window, and they towed me anyway...When I called them up today to explain to them i had a decal in the car...they said they would go look...and I was correct...They said sorry and said they would release my car to me...I had to pay for a taxi to go get this car...and be inconvienced...A friend said I should call tomorrow and ask when they will reinburse me for their mistake...that they illegally towed my car and I can file a formal complaint against their license...but if they reinbursed me for cab fare and a reasonable sum equal to or greater then the charge of the tow for my inconvience...i can sign an affidavit release and that should settle the matter...

Is this extortion? What are my rights? and what can I do about this?

I agree they should pay your cab fare.
