Don't ignore it.
How much is the ticket. You should weigh the cost of paying the ticket with the cost of fighting it.

Cool

How were you notified about this ticket? Were you provided with a contact phone number? Did you call it?

If not, do so -- and check that the description on the citation matches your vehicle. It could be a typo in the plate number, in which case it would be unlikely that the description will match.

If the description DOES match, then you need to seriously consider the possibility that, while you may have never been to that city, your vehicle may have. Who else drives it?

An astonishing number of these in our office can be blamed on driving-age children in the family. Somehow they seem to think that if they just ignore the ticket no one will ever find out. Little do they know.

There have been many posts here about incorrect plate numbers or state on a parking ticket. So if somebody ignores those, somebody else may end up with them (maybe you).

I once received notice from Chicago for a delinquent parking ticket from Friday before Memorial Day weekend. But I wrote back saying that my sales call records and receipts showed I was in OH that day and requested a description of the vehicle. I described mine and said if it was not that vehicle, the license plate number must have been incorrect. Never heard from them again.
