Unjustified towing? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California My dad's car transmission broke down so he cant use it. He moves it for street cleaning days and even washes it. Now it has been towed away due to a complaint. Of what , we don't know. He hasn't received any tickets or wasn't illegally parked. Is this fair? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? |

| An inoperable vehicle shouldn't be parked on the street.

| Was it moved more than a few feet? ![]() ETA: NO, it doesn't matter. If it's inop, it's not supposed to be parked on the street.

Call the police department or city agency that authorized the tow and ask them under what authority it was towed. There are a number of possibilites I can see where it could have been towed. SO, you really need to ask them under what authority it was towed. The tow company should have that on the CHP 180 form (provided your local agency uses that form - and most all CA agencies do). Oh, was the registration current? Current license plates, tabs, and paid registration (not a PNO, but a valid registration)? - Carl

| That's up to the officer and is never necessary.

| The warning is in the municipal code that probably says... inopearable vehicles cannot be parked on the street. There's the warning.
