Valet Parking in Handicap space

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

I drove into a restaurant that had valet parking. The valet attendant directed me into the handicap space and said he would move it shortly and to leave the car running. I came back out from lunch, my car was in a normal parking spot but as I was getting in the car I noticed a ticket on my windshield. It was a handicap parking ticket for $330.00. I spoke to the valet and he said the parking lady gave me a ticket before he could move it. I don't think I should pay for the ticket since I would never have parked there but was told to by the valet. I spoke with the manager of the restaurant and they said the valet was a different company not related to them. I spoke with the valet company and they said it's the valet attendant's fault and he should pay me. I spoke with the valet and he said he didn't have the money. Is there anything I can do to get justice from this incident? Can I take the valet company to small claims court? Can I fight the ticket or at least get a reduction in the fine?

If the valet attendant would have told you to run a red light would you?

You parked in a spot you legally could not. You shouldn't have listened to him.

I agree that you should not have listened to the attendant. But, you can still sue both the attendant and his company in small claims court. I doubt that the valet company will want to take waste a day of their time on a case that they might lose.
