Village Sticker Ordinance Violation

What is the name of your state? Illinois- Lake County

My husband went to his pickup this morning that was parked on our driveway and found a ordinance violation on the windshield stating "No display of current village sticker." He doesn't have one which is a violation of our town. However, we DO pay township taxes in our property taxes twice annually. My question is: Is it legal for the 'Community Police' to issue tickets on private property? If so, what's to stop them next from demanding to enter my home seeking violations? Do you have any recourse to get out of paying this fine because we were ticketed on on own property?

Post the complete ordinance that he was in violation of and someone will be able to answer your question.

**A: I remember getting a ticket for not having the village sticker when I was in Disney Orlando village.

That happened to me in an apartment parking lot (city stickers normally due by Feb. 15, vehicle purchased May 1986, ticket early July). I guess if it is in public view and registered in that town they gotcha. They may even get a list of local registrations from the state and match that up with city sticker applications.

Unless it is a new vehicle with temporary plates, I cannot see any justification for fighting it.

But what really pissed me off was years later when they towed my pickup truck sometime between midnight and 7AM. Some butch woman from another town temporarily managing the complex incorrectly assumed that my truck had not moved for 3 years because the EPA sticker and city sticker were 3 years old. But EPA had not required window stickers since then, and money from the riverboat casino eliminated Elgin vehicle stickers then.
