Violation Hell

What is the name of your state? DE, Delaware

I am a recently contracted ROTC member who attends Wilm U full time. I attend UD only for ROTC. I was heavily fined beginning my term here at this campus as a visitor, getting tickets for parking in several lots as well as on meters that were supposed to be free during winter session. I went to the parking department twice asking for some sort of permit to park by the ROTC. After my third attempt and my car getting towed, I received a visitors pass for the semester. A few weeks later I enrolled into continuing education for the one ROTC class I opted to take here in lieu of Wilm U for the gym privs, which I paid extra for. I received three more bogus tickets claiming the expiration date on the pass was not visible and another trip to the tow company. I never received a letter and an email was sent to my UD email address I was never given stating my visitors pass was no longer valid. Now the supervisor is telling me I’ll have to get special permission, pay an additional $150 and use the Perkins garage ($8 a day) for a pass I already had. The total fines I have accrued are over $300, all up for appeal.

I am also a Chaplains assist within the national guard and work full time with the state as a youth counselor. I don't have much time to keep messing with stupid parking violations.

And your question or question[s] are what?

You need to consult with your ROTC superiors about parking options for someone in your situation.

The bottom line is that you may have to pay to park in a commercial or public pay lot on a per day basis.

You should not expect free parking or student rate parking, if you have no grounds for it.

question

Sorry for the rant...

The information was that I need to know what law I am under and where I can find that information. I have discussed the sit with my commander, however I need some sort of background for my appeals. They gave me two tickets for not showing my pass properly when it was clearly on the dashboard where it should! This has happened to the Cadre on several occasions also.

That's easy...just prove that it WAS being displayed properly.
(That's said a bit tongue-in-cheek...)
