We live in apartment complex and my finace just got a parking ticket

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

We have a problem in this complex. We were told that there was "ample" parking, but that is just not true. My finace got home late the other night, and the only parking spot was in a handicapped spot. She left the car there, and when she went to the car the next day, it had a parking ticket on it. Is there any way to fight this? It is the time of the year when college gets out, and many families have their students come home for the summer, and then parking becomes a joke. The lot does completely fill up, then the few street spots get filled, and at that point, where can you put the car? Can anyone offer some advice?

Yes. All she has to do is to show her handicap placard that she was displaying at the time the ticket was issued and ask the court to dismiss it. If she doesn't have a handicap placard.... she needs to pay the fine.

Yep. Don't park in a handicap spot.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Is your fiance handicapped? If not, then open the wallet and pay the fine.

When an apartment complex does not have assigned spots, and there are not enough of them, where are you supposed to put the car? You can't put it in yuor pocket and carry it upstairs? Isn't the complex obligated to have enough spots for all the people that live there?

Certainly not park in a handicapped spot if you are not handicapped.

A song comes to mind.... These boots are made for walking, that's just what they do....

In any legal spot you can find.

Unless you're paying for an assigned parking spot, why should they have to provide parking for everyone?

Park a few blocks away wherever there are legal spots available if the complex lot is full. A walk is good exercise for everyone.

If safety late at night is an issue, your fiancee should call you, pick you up, and have you walk back home with her.
