What is the name of your state? Colorado
I got a ticket tonight for throwing my lit cigarette butt out the window of my car. I have to go to court in March. Could someone please tell me what to expect? How does this all work and what do I say? Is this something that they would send you to jail for since it a Class 2 misdemeanor? The C.R.S number for my infraction is 42-4-1406(1b). Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Throwing a lighted cigarette is a class 2 misdemeanor. Yes, it could be $1000 and/or a year in jail. Probably not likely, but I don't mess around with charges that could yield jail time, get a lawyer.

Unless the cigarette started a fire or you have a criminal history, jail is extremely unlikely.
